Spirit of the Rainforest is nestled in the hinterland of the Nambucca Valley, half way between Sydney and Brisbane. We are 12 kms or 15 minutes drive from the Historic verandah post town of Bowraville & 1 hour or 70 km South of Coffs Harbour. 25 minutes off the M1 at Macksville or Nambucca .The Shed is nestled on 100 acres of farmland and is also a Designated Land for Wildlife Property.
Looking for a ‘Digital-detox’ holiday. Set within a secluded rain-forest valley, this simple yet elegant off-grid and off-line house has large picture windows that capture natural light and frame the beauty of the surrounding forest. Spacious lounge/dining area, wood-fired heater and a fully-provisioned kitchen with full-sized fridge/freezer and gas-stove. For lovers of cooking there is a wood-fired stove for baking bread, roasts or anything that takes your fancy.
The space
Your retreat is hidden away in a secluded valley adjoining the Juugawaarri Nature Reserve, surrounded by rainforest with abundant wildlife, near a pristine stream. You may choose to relax on the veranda, enjoying the peace of the bush and the abundant birdlife, or visit the tranquil waterfall upstream. For the more adventurous you can walk off track and explore the majestic forest and discover its diversity of animals and plants. You can also access and explore, by four-wheel drive, an extensive network of tracks in the adjoining Juugawaarri Nature Reserve and state forests.
Other things to note
A 4-wheel drive vehicle (4WD or AWD SUV) is essential in order to access the property. There a small eclectic library, including wildlife guides, and a variety of board games. Girralong Rainforest Retreat is ‘device-free’; there is no TV, no mobile reception or internet. A land-line phone is available for necessities.
